Everyone should chew comfortably, laugh with confidence, and awaken each day with a smile. For those who wear dentures or partials dentures, comfort, confidence, and self-esteem are compromised.
The alternative of dental implants is becoming the preferred choice for more and more adults. Dental implants replace tooth roots providing a stable foundation for the attachment of a single tooth, bridge, or full upper or lower denture.
We will be happy to discuss the dental implant alternative with you and answer your questions thoroughly.

Periodontal disease (gum disease) often begins without warning. In early stages, tenderness, bleeding upon brushing, and bad breath occur. As it progresses, teeth loosen and are eventually lost. Because the health of your gums is vital to overall oral health, your hygiene appointments include a careful regime of gum maintenance. If indications of periodontal disease exist, treatment will be recommended to restore your gums to a healthy state. Dr. Whiteside is highly-trained to treat the disease by a non-surgical procedure.

Preventive care reduces the need for more extensive procedures in the future. Your regular care visits are structured to maintain healthy teeth and gums and detect areas of risk. Your initial appointment will include:
- Thorough examination of teeth and gums
- Radiographs (X-Rays) if necessary
- Study Models if necessary for treatment planning
- Intra-oral camera utilization (to make informed decisions and view vulnerable areas)
- Personal consultation
Regular hygiene appointments maintain good oral health. For added protection, sealants or fluoride treatment may be recommended. Thorough cleaning, polishing and oral cancer screening is performed at each check-up.
Dr. Whiteside works closely with skilled staff members who are equally committed to your care. It is our goal for your smile to look as good as it feels.

PORCELAIN CROWNS IN HOURS, NOT WEEKS!
New technology provides single-visit crowns and inlays
After much research, Dr. George Whiteside has added the latest version of advanced dental technology. CEREC 3D uses computerized precision to create porcelain crowns, inlays and onlays – in just one visit. Patients who have already experienced the advantages of CEREC 3D are so pleased! A few shared these comments:
“Not having to wear a temporary was wonderful. My beautiful crown was placed in one visit!”
“Just one appointment, one numbing, and my treatment was complete!”
Now, there is no need for a second appointment to replace the temporary with the final restoration. Patients spend less time in treatment and have up to 50% less numbing requirements. With CEREC, shade matching is precise with a look and feel that is uncompromised. Dr. Whiteside states, “This technology has many benefits for our patients while providing exceptional results in restorations.”
CEREC, an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, incorporates the latest in computerization. Dr. Whiteside uses the technology’s 3-D infrared camera to acquire data regarding the height, width and depth needed for the prepared tooth. Once entered into CEREC 3D, the patient comfortably relaxes as the porcelain crown or inlay is created, which is ready for placement immediately.
for greater patient involvement in less time!
DIGITAL X-RAYS
The Dexis Digital X-Ray System provides patients with many benefits, including:
- Reduced exposure to radiation
- Instant on-screen images – developing time eliminated
- Large image viewing on computer monitor screen
- Magnification of selected areas is available to support early diagnosis
- Easy transfer to other doctors (oral surgeon, periodontist, etc.) or insurance providers
- Increased comfort from traditional “bite wings”
Patients who have experienced digital x-rays in our office immediate visual involvement. Dr. Whiteside states, “The reduction in radiation exposure and the clear view this provides enhances our interaction with each patient. This adds to the oral care involvement patients have while saving them time in the chair.”
DIAGNODENT LASER CARIES DETECTION SYSTEM
For generations, dentists have had to probe teeth for holes and view bitewing X-rays to detect decay. Traditional X-rays are capable of revealing decay within the tooth only 67% of the time and particularly difficult with the chewing surface of back teeth until decay is deep inside. The longer decay is present in the tooth, the more damage occurs. Early treatment often helps patients avoid crowns needed to repair large cavities and some root canals.
Dr. Whiteside now utilizes the dental technology Diagnodent Laser Caries Detection System., which uses laser fluorescence to disclose the invisible. With 90-95% accuracy, Diagnodent uses a painless light that scans the grooves and cracks of teeth. When decay is encountered, a readout is displayed and an audible signal emitted from the base unit. This technology helps to maximize patient comfort and avoid little problems from becoming big ones.
DIGITAL CAMERA IMAGES
The Fuji Digital Camera gives patients an “up close” look at specific areas, providing greater understanding and decision-making ability. With a life-size, color view of their mouth, patients are able to express treatment preferences to a greater extent. These images are helpful in:
- Giving an accurate view of areas needing treatment or that are at risk
- Enhancing patient communication by allowing them to pinpoint areas of concern
- Maintaining a visual record of the mouth for each patient, becoming a reference for later. This is especially helpful in monitoring vulnerable areas in the mouth.
- Providing dental specialists, dental lab technicians, etc. with a visual “map” to accompany Dr. Whiteside’s instructions for heightened accuracy.
Dr. Whiteside adds, “Our patients appreciate having the same view of their mouth that I have. It allows them to become more involved in achieving and maintaining an appealing, confident, healthy smile.”
